In 2018, the People’s Paper Co-op (PPC) collaborated with the Philadelphia Community Bail Fund on their Mama's Day Bail Out campaign. Women in the PPC’s Women in Reentry Program worked with artists and activists to organize exhibitions, parades, press conferences, and events to raise awareness and funds for their campaign while sharing the stories, dreams, and demands of formerly incarcerated women with thousands of Philadelphians. In two weeks, $97,000 was raised and 15 women were bailed out before Mother’s Day.
For 2019, PPC is expanding this collaboration and fight for the freedom and rights of women across Philadelphia. In an effort to expand these efforts and create entry points for Common Field participants into this local campaign, PPC leads this interactive silk screen project. Prints made in this workshop will be displayed on-site, taken home by Convening participants, and become rally posters for the upcoming Free Our Mothers parade in May.
