Define Nomadic Space: Arts Organizing, Pandemic, and Virtual Experience

Saturday, May 2, 2020
1-2:30pm CDT

with j. bilhan (Houston, TX), Jessi Bowman (Houston, TX), Terry Suprean (Houston, TX)

This virtual Q&A will address the concept of nomadic grassroots arts organizations. We will define what it means to be nomadic and share our experiences; we invite you to join the conversation. Terry Suprean of Civic TV, Jessi Bowman of FLATS, and independent artist j. bilhan will discuss their successes and failures in grassroots arts organizing.

Key points to consider are the longevity of such nomadic operations, redefining the traditional gallery, virtual experiences, and funding. Presently, in response to a global pandemic, we will discuss what role nomadic spaces play in developing interventions or furthering online arts engagement. Prepare your notebooks and let's share what we've learned, and how we're adapting to our present circumstances.
