Thursday, April 23, 2020
1-2:30pm CDT
with Amanda Lovelee (Minneapolis, MN), Annis Whitlow Sengupta (Boston, MA), Nicole Crutchfield (Fargo, ND), Prerana Reddy (New York, NY)
Municipal/Artist (M/A) partnerships are collaborations between local governments and artists that use creative processes to engage residents and improve communities. In this session we will introduce the new free online Municipal Artist Partnership Guide, researched and produced by A Blade of Grass and Animating Democracy, as a practical resource to help municipal agency personnel, artists, and intermediaries navigate partnerships to achieve internal goals as well as powerful community results. Presenters will share the guideās contents, which includes a rapid-fire top ten list of partnership principles, quality practices, and sample tools and frameworks.
Presenters include a planner and artist who have been on both sides of artist and government partnerships, who will share experiences and lessons learned as well as the impacts of their collaborations. The session will conclude with a Q&A session for those interested in initiating partnerships with their own municipalities.
