Finding Freedom + Centering Joy

Saturday, Nov 6, 2021
11:30am EDT/8:30am PDT

Care Space: 90 min

Organized by metaDEN PACK (People Activating Communal Knowledge)
Facilitated by Jamila Reddy

*This session is organized specifically for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Color) attendees.*

Tapping into our ability to feel liberated and stand in our power despite the trauma and complex impacts of systemic oppression helps us move through the world with agency and resilience. In this workshop, participants will:

  • Identify what they need in order to feel liberated and joyful, and get clarity on the conditions needed to thrive

  • Examine obstacles to inner liberation and joy, and explore the thought patterns and core beliefs that may be holding them back from feeling empowered and fulfilled

  • Practice grounding techniques to help them feel calm and stable in the midst of emotionally heavy and challenging life experiences

  • Discover practical tools to cultivate a positive and balanced state of life that is not dependent on external factors

metaDEN is a healing incubator curated by/for BIPOC that centers the queer and trans community. We bring together a PACK of BIPOC facilitators, practitioners, and artists to provide various creative forms of healing and social justice. Before COVID-19, we provided physical space in Brooklyn, NY. For the safety of our community, we have now adapted to a virtual platform and are currently offering programming online and collaborating with aligned organizations. We were co-founded by Joss Martinez (they/them) + McKenzie Angelo Martinez (she/her) in 2018.
