Heima Art Residency is currently accepting applications for 2020 residencies of 50 and 80 days. The residency is located in Seyðisfjörður, East Iceland - a thriving port that is home to just 650 people and yet manages to support an art school, a two art festivals, a theatre, a museum, restaurants/bars, two artist residencies and the Dieter Roth Academy.
Heima Art Residency is an independent non-profit organisation founded in 2013. It was initiated to provide a space where emerging artists across a variety of disciplines can live and work in close proximity, sharing energies and ideas. The space is a 350 square meters living and studio space.
We encourages applications from a wide range of artists of different cultural and geographic backgrounds. We are open for applications for all phases - from initial research to finishing works. Our intention is to create and facilitate temporary collectives for emerging artists to work and live together. We offer residencies of 50 or 80 days accomodating 6 artists at a time.
The program is self-organised and as a young, non-profit organisation unfortunately we're currently unable to provide financial assistance for the artists in residence.
The residency fees are 150.000 ISK (approx. 1100 EURO) for 50 days and 250.000 ISK (1800 EURO) for 80 days. The fee covers accommodation and studio space(s). The residency fee is to be paid in advance and is non-refundable. Residents must provide for their own food, travel, and miscellaneous expenses.
Residents will be selected based on the quality of their work, commitment to their practice and ability to interact positively with the community at large.
