Hiring FT Space Manager

NAVEL seeks a full-time Space Manager who will work closely with the Executive Director to manage the NAVEL space including overseeing NAVEL's Private Rental program, as well as managing operational aspects of the space including relationship management with vendors/suppliers, hiring and managing staffing for events, ordering supplies, and coordinating repairs/maintenance. This position requires flexibility, agility, a kind and patient heart, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously, and a willingness to get your hands dirty.

The Private Rental program is NAVEL's main economic engine and the Space Manager manages all aspects of this program including site visits/scouts, managing inquiries, negotiating contracts, serving as site rep during events and hitting monthly revenue goals. The ideal candidate will have experience in event rentals or space management. A friendly, customer-centric mindset and personality is required. We're looking for someone who aims to please, but can also be firm with our policies and guidelines.

Ideally, candidates will have a background and interest in event production and a desire to support the NAVEL team in production and management of NAVEL's Public Programming. This is an intense position with unusual hours and not for the faint of heart. Having access to a vehicle is vital. We'd love it if you speak Spanish. Specific Responsibilities include:

- Manage all rental inquiries (via phone, email, and rental platforms)

- Schedule and perform walkthroughs with potential clients

- Serve as the main point of contact for rental clients

- Liaise between production staff and clients

- Act as site manager from load-in through load-out (including opening/closing facility)

- Manage master space calendar

- Generate rental leads

- Draft contracts and negotiate pricing on behalf of the space

- Book vendors and staff for events, including security, cleaning, onsite manager, production, etc.

- Manage supplies and stock, and order as necessary

- Coordinate repairs and maintenance in the space

- Manage and schedule volunteers

- Coordinate space cleaning with Caretakers

- Create invoices, follow up on payments, and reconcile income and expenses related to private rentals

- Occasionally assist Program Director on production needs for public programming


Full-time, 40+ flexible hours per week


NAVEL practices pay equity and this position will be paid the standard FT rate. All staff at NAVEL work as independent contractors. Unfortunately we don't offer any benefits (although this will change in 2020).
