Sea of Oil book and exhibition

What is the social culture of oil? Through gathering stories and objects, Sea of Oil looks at how oil and gas cultures intersect with everyday life, as we are faced with massive, global climate change.

The book features personal stories related to oil and gas contributed by oil workers and their family members, environmentalists, and artists, paired with photographs of related objects, shared during story circle show & tells held at DiverseWorks and The Transart Foundation for Art and Anthropology (Houston); and Sterling Municipal Library (Baytown) in 2019. Each project participant receives a copy of the book, and the book will be archived in local libraries. An edition of 100, the book is designed by artist Liyen Chong.
