The Transversal Project collaborates with artists, institutions and communities to create opportunities for experimental public art exhibitions. Artists are invited throughout the year to create new site-specific, outdoor, projector-based work. National and international Call For Entry exhibitions, as well as invitational exhibitions are conducted each year. All shows are single-night events, taking place at various locations within a chosen city. Often, public buildings such as the facades of museums, government or corporate buildings, or even abandoned buildings are used for the exhibition. All exhibitions are free and open to the public.
The goals of The Transversal Project are:
-To create opportunities for artists to make and display artworks in the context of the built environment.
-To heighten critical public discourse surrounding the importance of art making and cultural production.
-To offer an alternative mode of exhibition to the typical gallery or museum.
-To create a public forum for the exploration of art as a communal and projective experience.
The Transversal Project is currently based in St. Louis, MO.
