Michelle Lisa Polissaint

Miami, FL

Michelle Lisa is an artist and arts administrator based in Miami, Florida. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Florida International University in Photography and Fiber Based Painting. Her work explores the nature of human interaction through textiles and photographs. This most recent work moves from a previous series of self-portraits, Dancing With Myself, which explored her relationship with herself away from the guidance of her parents, into a new body of work documenting trips and interactions with her parents and family, If Home Was Home.

As an arts administrator, she is focused on producing community based programming. She is the current Program and Outreach Manager at Locust Projects. Previously, she held a position as Community Engagement Assisrtant at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami and Programs Manager at the Miami Rail. In her position at the Rail, a non-profit arts publication providing critical coverage of arts, she has implemented the Visiting Writer Program, The Block by Block Program and the new Writer's Retreat partnering with The Standard, Miami Beach.

Ansanm, is her newest program launching in Fall 2017 with funding from The Awesome Foundation.  Ansanm, is a civic engagement project that aims to bring the arts to Miami's diverse working class communities through community based events centered around meals.
