Catherine Haley Epstein

Catherine Haley Epstein is an award-winning artist, designer and curator. Over the past eight years she has pioneered the incorporation of scent into her visual and conceptual art practice. 

Most recently Catherine published a book "Nose Dive" For the Curios Seeking Creative Potemtial Through Their Noses". The book has been nominated for Perfume Plume Book of the Year, 2020. She was interviewed about the book and her broader practice in April 2020:

In 2018 she attended the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference at Middlebury College in Vermont, and in 2019 spoke at the Society of Illustrators in New York on her writing and scent practice, and in Milan, Italy at the Esxence niche perfumery festival. She is a multimedia artist and has recently done educational programming around scent at the Portland Art Museum, and with Public Annex, who serves community artists with disabilities. In 2016 she was selected to exhibit her experimental fragrance project at the inaugural AIX Scent Fair at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.

She is the recipient of the 2017 Perfumed Plume Award in Fragrance Journalism, for her writing on the use of scent as an art medium, and has served on the panel for Visual Artist grants for the National Endowment for the Arts. She cofounded a community project experiment, "Point and Line" where over 500 artists, curators and art enthusiasts contributed content for a new way of engaging with the visual arts. She continues to broaden the dialogue on contemporary arts with her writing and projects on the platform she founded in 2012 Mindmarrow.
