Sarah Lillegard

Reno, NV

Sarah Lillegard is an interdisciplinary artist making work in and about the Great Basin region of the American West. Her process is rooted in material (what is of this place), labor (participation as both a lens and a contribution), and observation (asking and listening). The work itself ranges from site-specific installations to publications to soft sculptures. Her on-going projects include "Modest Museums" and "The Empty Quarterly".

In addition to her art practice, Sarah is heavily invested in the Nevada/California woolgrower's community, which intersects with ranchers, artisans, rangeland managers, and conservationists. She writes and photographs for Fibershed, is a member of the Reno Fiber Guild, and works seasonally as a small-flock sheep shearer
