Latyra Blake

Latyra Blake is a daughter, friend, teacher, advocate, advisor, leader, and amazing mother to 4 boys. After being a fellow with the People’s Paper Co-op, her exceptional skills as a patient listener and advice giver led to a new position being created for her. Latyra was hired and is now Peer Mentor to other formerly incarcerated women going through the PPC fellowship.

Latyra uses her expertise and experience in many ways. She constantly works to lift people up, volunteers with women in outpatient as a peer mentor at Interim House, and has completed every program she’s ever been a part of. After 7 years, she was recently released from probation. She is planning on going back to school, and is determined to bring awareness to the struggles incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women face, while making a positive change.
