Center for Afrofuturist Studies

Iowa City, IA

The Center for Afrofuturist Studies (CAS) is an initiative to re-imagine the futures of marginalized peoples by generating dynamic work-spaces for artists of color. Dynamic means interactive, supportive, community-engaged, rigorous, and inclusive. Curated by Anaïs Duplan and hosted by Iowa City's artist-run community arts center Public Space One, the CAS hosts artists-in-residence and produces lectures, workshops, public forums, and exhibitions in collaboration with artists on the intersections of race, technology, and the diaspora.
