Ariana Jacob

Portland, OR

Ariana Jacob makes artwork that often uses conversation to explore political and personal interdependence and disconnection. Ariana teaches in the Social Practice MFA Program at Portland State University and she is the Chair of Bargaining for PSUFA Adjunct Faculty Union. Prior to working as an artist and precarious academic Ariana managed a farmers market, collectively co-managed a food co-op, worked in a cabinet shop, co-ran a secret cafe out of her apartment, and fished for salmon commercially. Her artwork has been in the NW Biennial, the Portland Biennial, Open Engagement, and the Discourse and Discord Symposium, as well as many public places. In spring 2020 Ariana cofounded with her partner Mack McFarland an exhibition space in their backyard called Congress Yard Projects.
