With Gratitude for the Possibilities Ahead

To our Common Field Community,

2021 has been a year of transition and growth for so many of us, Common Field included! We are so grateful to you for being part of these processes and dialogs throughout the year, and we look forward to continuing to grow and learn together. In that spirit, we are happy to share some reflections from this year and notes on what’s ahead:

2021 in Review

Sustaining Futures at-a-Glance

This year’s Sustaining Futures Online Convening (Nov 4–13, 2021) brought our field together for two consecutive weekends of conversation and connection. With so many firsts – including sliding-scale ticket fees, virtual care sessions, a Support Grant program for online attendees, a hybrid in-person gathering organized by Convening Partner Racing Magpie, and our inaugural national Partnership model – we were thrilled to see significant growth in first-time attendees and a broader geographical spread of participants across the country. Here’s a quick look at the Convening by the numbers:

  • 6 National Partners
  • 30 Sessions
  • 37 Hours of Programming
  • 86 Presenters and Contributors from across the country
  • 604 Registered Attendees
  • 1031 individual views, or visits, during the Convening
  • $10,345 in Ticket Income/Donations that will support 2022 Network programs
  • $25,738 of funds used for attendee accessibility and support through grants, online tools and onsite engagement

We Grew Together!

In 2021, Common Field was excited to expand its staff to realize the 2021 Convening and so much more. We welcomed Mars Avila, our Producer of Programs & Special Projects; Kristel Baldoz, our Administrative Manager; and Cat Yang, our Network Associate to the team, and are looking forward to building together in the year ahead!

We are also thrilled to share that our Network grew by 25% – or 170+ new members – in 2021, with 855 members today! Thank you all for being part of this community, and for sharing it with others!

Looking Ahead

Free Membership in 2022

We’re pleased to share that Network membership will remain free and open throughout 2022! Use Keycode ‘CF2022’ for free membership at any level – applicable for new and existing memberships. We will continue to refund renewal fees for existing members throughout the year as well. Learn more about our Network, and how to join, at CommonField.org/Join

Reimagining in 2022

Following this year’s work with our organizational audit consultants, we are looking forward to sharing a final assessment report with our Network in early 2022. Initial findings in our audit process have and are being implemented in our internal and programmatic work this year, and we look forward to sharing this report and our next steps with you as we begin the new year.

Concurrent with this process, we are excited to continue developing projects in 2022, including continued Network-focused programs, an expanded Fellowship initiative, and new regional initiatives developed with Network partners. More to come soon!

May 2022 bring you and your communities a sense of hope and togetherness.

With care,
The Common Field Team
